Made in China

José Pozo

25. 7. 2008 - 10. 9. 2008

Pre-Opening: 24. 7. 2008, 19:00

Opening accompanied by a lecture/reflection delivered by Klaus Werner, co-author of the book „Black Book on Brand Companies“.

One of the central topics of José Pozo is the world of workers and performance and consumer society with its diverse and current socio-political issues.

Pozo explores the demands of the society on the artist and the industrialization of art through the art market in his cycle of works “Made in China“ from 2007 and 2008. Like any other product a work of art is subject to the production cycle of the modern world.

Jozé Pozo here often uses clichéd symbols. Through these, some of his latest works remind of the aesthetics of advertisement in which the image of good life is presented and created.

Pozo, in this way, questions the image of economy which society glorifies and which gains its profits at the expense of the workforce and he points to reality of workers and their struggle for survival.
